Young Solar Neighbors

Young Solar Neighbors delivers an age-appropriate, interactive, and engaging renewable energy curriculum to students in grades K-4 at schools in Detroit, Highland Park, and Hamtramck.

NEWCC partnered with Dr. Shawn Forman to develop Exploring Renewable Energy- A Workbook for Young Solar Neighbors. By introducing children to the topic of renewable energy and exploring concepts such as solar and wind energy, the workbook sparks curiosity and empowers children to become the next generation of innovators and advocates for a cleaner, more sustainable planet.

We have begun rolling this curriculum out in classrooms, and it has been AMAZING to see how young learners shine as they begin to grasp why renewable is so critically important!

Teaching young children about the importance of clean energy instills environmental awareness early, fostering a sustainable mindset crucial for addressing global challenges and ensuring a cleaner, healthier planet for future generations.
