COMING SOON: Become a Solar Steward
NEWCC plans to conduct a Solar Steward training program which trains neighborhood leaders in the basic solar installation skills necessary to work with the general contractor. This program has the goal of creating a workforce development program while installing and maintaining solar solutions for 1000 low-income households (LMI).
The Solar Stewards are responsible for:
- Installing and maintaining Solar Charging Stations
- Providing wifi access throughout the area
- Maintaining small device charging stations during emergency power outages.
There are currently six charging stations with more planned next spring.
This is basic Solar installation 101 and enables the participants to, with the aid of a Solar Design team, to make basic assessment of a location for solar, conduct necessary evaluations and decisions for the installation, and participate in the installation process.
